Baking challah with your children can be a wonderful way to mark shabbat! Please join us for this hands-on adult and child class. We’ll learn how to mix, punch down, and shape our own challah. Each family will leave with a loaf of challah ready for the oven, the recipe for Ten Apple Farm’s favorite challah, and a list of some inspiring kids’ books about Jewish baking.

Margaret Hathaway is an author, unabashed foodie, and goat farmer. She is the author of five books, including two cookbooks. Her most recent book is The New Portland, Maine Chef’s Table, published in summer 2019. Margaret is an avid volunteer in the Jewish community, and is a co-leader of Levey Day School’s Girl Scout Troop #1433. Since 2006, Margaret and her husband Karl Schatz have raised three daughters, many dairy goats, poultry, and assorted other animals on Ten Apple Farm, their homestead in Southern Maine, where she teaches workshops and cooking classes.
